thanks for a fun show in birmingham tonight! i've been here for five months and it was like a little slice of home.
show in birmingham. that seems so long ago and it really wasn’t. i had a good day that day. i found an I-D taschen annual for cheap from 1999. hope that you’re adjusting well to birmingham. where are you from anyway? you should check this band out. they’ve been on tour in canada with us for a few days and tonite is their last night. they’re called The Balconies. you should look them up. tonite we’re all in montreal playing a show in a few hours. i wish they were touring longer than just 3 nights. here’s a pretty bad photo i took of them in Toronto last night.
You're coming to chile for Lollapalooza, don't you think this is the perfect time for a quick stop in Rio de Janeiro? ;) much love from Brasil! Hope to see you someday
yes. we are coming to Chile. it’s my first time. you’re right, it is the perfect time to come to Rio de Janeiro, but unfortunately we only have 2 days to go somewhere new and exciting on our days off. drummer Averio & I decided to go to Buenos Aires. i need some tips on places to go so if anyone has any wild ideas for things for us to do, i’m asking now. have you ever seen this painting? this picture doesn’t do it justice, but it sure is a good one. its by James Ensor and i’ve heard rumors that b. dylan loosely based the song desolation row on it, but that’s probably not true at all.
need the shirt with mr. gabe on it!! how can I get it?? I live in germany.
i’ll send you a mr. gabe shirt if you make me a shirt with mr. swift on it. ? ? deal? thats a good trade. (richard swift is a national treasure, its best if you look him up right now and buy a few of his records)
Do you only do artwork for CWK? Do you sell any originals?
of course i sell originals. // here’s 2 other peoples originals that i saw 2 weeks ago in england. the first one, is a drawing by a woman we met randomly at a bar in Manchester called TROF, or the deaf institute, (i can’t really remember which was the name) after the show. i can’t remember her name, but she had just flown in from serbia that day and was as tired as i was from traveling. i took a picture of her sketch of some man she was drawing from memory. it’s a terrible photograph but a really great drawing. i should have tried to trade her one of my own drawings for it. the other photo here is one of PJ harvey that i saw in London at the National portrait a few days later. Mary McCartney took it in the early ‘oughts. i wished they sold postcards of this one in the gift shop, but they didn’t have any. so heres a photo of a photo // i got a pretty mean postcard collection going btw
thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! what a great show in amsterdam tonight. wow, you guys are good! i mean... wow...
question: i have, well, been taking pictures... i really hope i didnt piss you off by doing that? cause when that mic fell my way i wasnt sure it was accidental ;) still, what a great gig! please come back. please. (i wont take a camera with me)
i’m so sorry if you almost got hit by a mic. i remember when that happened and i promise you i would never try to do that to you. so sorry again. take all the pictures you want. i’m so glad you like taking them. here’s some pictures i took last week at the national gallery of this artist i came across. his name is frank auerbach and these are rough drawings of his of various paintings in the National Gallery in London. you should look him up, i think you’d really enjoy his paintings. i posted 3 pictures of his above. there was so many, but i only took these 3 photos before the guard said to not take anymore, thus getting made a spectacle of by everyone in the room.
I saw you asked about Aussie writers. I don't have a lot of experience with them, but Markus Zusak is a real gem ("I Am The Messenger" and "Book Thief" are amazing). What are you reading right now?
nice. thanks kraig for the heads up on the aussie writers. i’ll try and check them out. me? i’m making my way through this one right now.i really enjoy it, i picked it up at the amsterdam film institute a few weeks back. i bought a hannah and her sisters postcard there too. hope you’re doing well.
